Thanksgiving After Mass - Prayer for growth in Holiness (Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas)

Thanksgiving After Mass - Prayer for growth in Holiness (Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas)

I thank You, O holy Lord, almighty Father, (Mt 11:25; 1 Sm 2:2)

eternal God, (Deut 33:27)
who have deigned, not through any merits of mine,
but out of the condescension of Your goodness, (Eph 2:8)
to satisfy me a sinner, Your unworthy servant, (Lk 17:10; Lk 18:3)
with the precious Body and Blood of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. (Jn 6:53-56)
I pray that this Holy Communion be not a condemnation to punishment for me, (Jn 3:18)
but a saving plea to forgiveness. (Heb 12:24)
May it be to me the armor of faith and the shield of a good will.  (Eph 6:11)
May it be the emptying out of my vices and the extinction of all lustful desires (Col 3:5)
an increase of charity and patience, of humility and obedience, and all virtues;  (Eph 4:15)
a strong defense against the snares of all my enemies,
visible and invisible; (Ps 61:3; Eph 6:12-13)
the perfect quieting of all my evil impulses of flesh and spirit, (Eph 4:22)
binding me firmly to You, (Col 4:3)
the one true God;  (Jn 17:3) and a happy ending of my life.  (Ps 37:37)
I pray too that You will deign to bring me, a sinner, to that ineffable banquet (Rev 19:9)?where You with Your Son and the Holy Spirit, are to Your Saints (Rev 21:3)
true light, (Jn 1:9) fulfillment of desires, (Gen 49:26)?eternal joy, unalloyed gladness, and perfect bliss. (Jn 15:11)?Through the same Christ our Lord. (Jn 16:23-24)
Amen. (Rev 3:14)
